Our Admission Process
How many classrooms do you have and what ages do you enroll?
Little Laurels Montessori Preschool serves children ages 18 months through 6 years old.
We have one classroom of toddler aged children, ages 18 through 33 months, and that classroom has 11 seats. We have a lengthy waitlist for this classroom all year round.
We have four preschool classrooms that serve children ages 30 months through 6 years old. Our waitlist for the preschool fluctuates throughout the year and there are a number of graduates each year in September and January.
When do you enroll children in your program?
We do rolling enrollment. This means that any time a child graduates from our program, their spot is made available to the next family on the waitlist.
How do we enroll in your program?
Generally the steps for enrollment are as follows:
Attend an Open House
When a spot becomes available, your child will be invited in for a Readiness Visit* (description below)
If the readiness visit goes well and your child is fully ready, your spot is confirmed.
If the readiness visit is not able to be completed, or your child is not yet ready, another visit may be scheduled. You may be given suggestions of things to work on with your child in order to prepare them for their next visit.
If your family is invited to schedule a readiness visit, you may choose to defer the spot with the intention of enrolling in the future. If your family defers 3 times, your child will be removed from the waitlist.
If a spot becomes available, I will reach out to you via email to schedule a readiness visit. If I do not get a reply within 5 days, I will attempt to reach you via text or phone call. If there is no reply of any kind within 14 days of the original email, your child will be removed from the waitlist. To prevent emails from going to spam, please add admissions@laurelacademy.org to your contacts.
After a successful readiness visit, a paperwork meeting will be scheduled to process paperwork, address any questions you may have, and invoice a deposit to hold your child’s spot. This deposit will be applied to your last month of tuition with us, once your child has graduated from our program.
*What is a readiness visit?
The readiness visit is an observation/skills check done by one of our lead teachers. Your child would be invited into the classroom to participate in the class for 25-35 minutes and the teacher would assess if they were ready to enroll in our Montessori program. The readiness indicators that will be looked for are as follows:
transition schedule section
60 day period of time after enrollment
What is expected of parents at Little Laurel?
Our goal is to work as a team, prepare the right environment at both home and school, and most importantly support the child's independence. An independent child is a happy child!
Respectful communication with the teachers
Informing teachers of changes in the child's home life that might impact their behavior at school
Submitting requests for absences through Procare
Arriving on time so your child has enough time to get ready for school (exact timing varies by classroom)
Short and sweet drop-offs
Not entering the classroom at drop-offs
Following school-wide rules and regulations (completely nut-free and nutritious lunches)
Do you provide food for the students?
We do not provide food for our students, and they should bring a lunch and a few snacks each day.
