Fall Giving Campaign

Did you know that Laurel Academy (Seattle’s Applied Scholastics school) will celebrate its 10th anniversary this summer? It’s true! Having opened our doors in 2011 with a single room and a small handful of children, we have grown our community to 7 classrooms serving 96 students, ages 18 months through the fifth grade.

All told, 2020 has been challenging. Our team has overcome every barrier presented by the pandemic, discovered silver linings, and produced highest ever stats in every meaningful category.  For the third year in a row, our earned revenues (excluding donations) remains above 1.1 million dollars.

Students are knocking completions and student points out of the ballpark, proceeding through their studies at 100% mastery before moving onto their  next levels.

Our families have rallied big this year, donating over $48,000 in just 4 months. With the statewide shift to remote schooling, families are experiencing the shortcomings of the public education system up close and personal and are searching for real solutions.  Our students are winning! Parents see that their children are excited about learning, and they are talking to their friends, already referring other families to us for NEXT fall. But we only have so much space.

All classrooms are AT CAPACITY. We have seats for only 96 children and have wait-listed the rest. So... what to do?

In December 2019, we added two adjacent parcels to our beautiful North Seattle campus which is located just a few blocks from Lake Washington, bringing us to a total of 1.65 acres to accommodate expansion. The property has a typical Northwest woodland-in-the-city feel and is an excellent complement to our existing structures and spaces.

We are on track to complete renovations on one of the existing buildings by June, with children enrolled by Fall 2021. The core issue is that these 30 seats are already promised to the families on our waitlist.

We have 23 additional children, in present time, who are currently enrolled in the preschool, but who cannot participate in our Kindergarten Early-entry and Enrichment programs because we simply do not have the delivery space. It is this flow of emergent Kinders into these very successful programs that has fed growth in our Elementary classrooms these past 4 years.

This is where you come in! If you have ever considered pushing power to a successful, growing educational endeavor, whose mission is to use Study Tech to educate our children while safe pointing our environment, now is the perfect moment in time.  More than ever, it is clear that our world needs future leaders who can think, who are ethical, creative and effective.  It all begins with an excellent education.

Large or small, every contribution is going to help, every dollar will go 100% to expansion, not operations. That means making Study Tech available to families who have never even heard of it! We are a non profit organization, licensed by Applied Scholastics International and all of your donations are fully tax deductible. Are you willing to help?

Thank you for taking the time to read this communication. In advance, on behalf of my entire staff and our existing and future families, thank you for any help you are willing to give. While we may not have met yet, perhaps we will somewhere up the line or when it is time to bring an Applied Scholastics school to your neighborhood? If you are interested in a conversation about our expansion project, reach me here. Flourish and prosper!
